Homeschool Parents

Privacy Policy

Homeschool Parents is built for real homeschool families. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have when you browse, create an account, join programs, or pay for services.

Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the site. Common examples include:

  • Account information — when you create a free account, we collect your email address and authentication details managed through our identity provider (Supabase Auth). Your account lets you access your dashboard, purchased printables, and other member features.
  • Program and form submissions — details you choose to provide when you sign up for programs such as Kids Pen Pals, Adult Pen Pals, the local homeschool directory, Parents Club, creator applications, contact messages, and similar forms (for example name, email, location, preferences, and free-text answers).
  • Payment-related information — when you pay through Stripe Checkout, Stripe processes your payment and may collect billing contact details. We receive confirmation metadata (such as payment status, amounts, and your email as provided to Stripe) so we can fulfill your purchase or program enrollment. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Printable purchases — when you buy a paid printable while signed in, we link the purchase to your member account so you can download it again from your dashboard.
  • Newsletter and email sign-ups — your email address (and optional name) when you subscribe to updates.
  • Basic usage data — limited technical information such as pages viewed, approximate device or browser details, and referral information to help us improve the site.

How we use your information

  • To operate your account and member dashboard.
  • To respond to messages and provide support.
  • To process payments and deliver what you paid for.
  • To run programs you join (matching, directory listings, membership access, and related administration).
  • To send service-related email (confirmations, receipts where applicable, and responses to your inquiries).
  • To send the newsletter when you opt in (you can unsubscribe anytime).
  • To improve resources, programs, security, and site performance.

Accounts and authentication

Free accounts are optional for browsing, but some features require you to be signed in — for example, purchasing paid printables and accessing them later from your dashboard. We use industry-standard authentication to protect sign-in. Keep your password private and use a personal email you check regularly so you do not lose access to purchases or program records tied to your account.

Payments through Stripe

Payments for Adult Pen Pal enrollment, paid printables, Parents Club subscriptions, and certain donations are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you checkout:

  • Your email is passed to Stripe so Checkout can prefill your receipt and so Stripe can email you a payment receipt after a successful charge (in live/production mode).
  • Paid printable purchases require a signed-in account so your purchase is saved to your member dashboard for re-download.
  • Adult Pen Pal checkout uses the email on your program application (or your signed-in account email when you are logged in).

Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. Please also enable and review receipt settings in your Stripe Dashboard if you operate a connected account; our site configures receipt email on each Checkout session where we know your email in advance.

Printables (free and paid)

Free printables can be downloaded without payment. Paid printables require checkout through Stripe while you are signed in. After a successful payment, the printable is associated with your account. You can download it from your printables dashboard without relying on a one-time link alone.

Email and communications

We may email you about submissions you make (for example program confirmations), account or payment matters, and newsletter content you requested. We use email service providers (such as Brevo) to deliver messages. We do not sell your email address.

Community programs and directory

Local homeschool directory and pen pal features involve information you choose to share with us for matching or community connection. Participation is voluntary. Please share only what you are comfortable with administrators and, where applicable, matched families seeing. Do not post sensitive personal information in public areas of the site.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality (such as keeping you signed in) and for basic analytics to understand which pages are helpful. You can control cookies in your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect sign-in and checkout.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to run the platform, including:

  • Hosting and database (for example Supabase) — site data, accounts, and program records.
  • Stripe — payment processing and receipts.
  • Email delivery (for example Brevo) — transactional and newsletter email.
  • Analytics — aggregated usage to improve the site.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some pages may include advertising or affiliate links in the future. If we add them, we will aim to keep recommendations homeschool-friendly and clearly labeled. Third-party ad or affiliate partners may use their own cookies or tracking as described in their policies.

Data retention

We keep information as long as needed to operate your account, fulfill purchases and program enrollments, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You may contact us to ask about access or deletion where applicable law allows.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any newsletter.
  • Sign in to your dashboard to access purchased printables and member tools.
  • Contact us to update or ask about information tied to program submissions or your account.

Children

Our account registration and payment flows are intended for adults (parents, guardians, or adult participants). Kids Pen Pal and similar programs collect parent or guardian information — not direct child account registration for payment.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform grows. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
